More Easter Fun In the Speech Room!

The countdown to Easter is on!! Have your therapy sessions been filled with festive activities, crafts, and maybe a little candy? This week has been jam-packed with fun, Easter inspired therapy activities. So much, that I had to split my blog post up into two parts. If you missed the first one, you can check it out here.  Want to see what else we have been up to?

Another one of my favorite books to read with my younger crowd this week is
This is super cute book about a little boy waiting for the Easter Bunny the night before Easter! The book provides a great opportunity for wh-questions, descriptive words, story predictions, etc. After the story, we decorated easter eggs with foam shaped eggs and stickers. I always stock up on these at Joann's when I find them on sale.
What kind of therapist would I be if I did not incorporate an easter egg hunt into my sessions? A boring one, thats for sure! Most of the students I saw this week were home for spring break so I wanted to make my activities as fun as possible. I am working on letter names and sounds with one of my preschool kiddos before he heads off to kindergarten in a few months. So we put plastic letters in plastic eggs and hid them around his house.

For my older articulation students, I had them write out target words, phrases, or sentences on pieces of paper then stuffed them inside plastic eggs. They were also hid around the house for a fun little hunt. After he/she found all the eggs, we took turns opening up a few and reading their targets before a turn in the game. I originally bought Jumping Jack
to use this week, but he arrived broken. So, we settled for another favorite game, Pop The Pig!
Want to make this game extra fun? Hide some extra goodies (like stickers, erasers, or candy) in the eggs when they aren't paying attention!
Last but not least, I had to send them home with a little homework. I used the printables from my Hippity-Hop Homework packet to jot down targets to practice before we met again for more easter fun!
Whew, what a week! We have had so much fun, but I am so glad tomorrow is Friday! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week.
Happy Easter!
